Nope, you are not the only one. This episode had a lot of potential to develop the friendship of Bolin and Korra after the fiasco that occurred in episode 5. As I said last question, Bolin and Korra have not talked one on one since episode 5 when every episode before since Bolin was introduced, they talked one on one and talked for significant amounts of time alone. You saw their friendship blossoming and it was very nice. By episode 5, Korra and Mako had only spent one day together. Bolin and Korra I have assumed, while they didn’t spent a day together, spent the majority of their time with each other when Korra was in town.
As I have said before, Mako’s feelings for Korra came out of nowhere, especially when they didn’t show Korra and Mako interact much outside of episode 3. I’m really starting to get the feeling that Bryke and their team are just not great romance writers except with the Masami pairing. But dammit that looks so shaky right now. I seriously think that their break-up will just be used as a way for Mako to move towards Korra while Asami’s feelings are not validated or considered equal to that of Korra’s.
I also cringed a little when I saw that. I mean, really, can you guys pull those red strings any tighter? What really pissed me off was how Mako helped Korra into the car and then they smiled all goofy at each other WHEN ASAMI IS TWO FEET IN FRONT OF THEM. SHE CAN SEE YOU MAKO. AND KORRA FUCKING KNOWS ASAMI KNOWS. GOD, HOW STUPID CAN YOU BE?!
As one of those gifs are going around, “you can’t be all flirty when you’re with someone else. It’s misleading and it’s unfair.” There’s being a gentleman and then there’s overstepping that boundary. Mako overstepped it, especially when Asami and Korra are not the best of friends yet. And honestly Mako, if he really cares about his relationship with Asami, should not be encouraging Korra to continue developing feelings for him. He can be nice, he can be a friend, but he CANNOT do those kinds of things when he KNOWS, HE KNOWS that Korra likes him. That’s just poor judgment on both their parts.
But yes this episode, especially the end, WAS BRILLIANT. God, cannot get over Tarrlock. He is such a great antagonist because unlike Ozai, he is setting up to be a well-intentioned extremist like Amon and I’ve never really seen how two antagonists with opposite goals going against the protagonists works out. BUT I’m dying to know!
Borra’s lack of progress can either show that:
A. Bolin’s feelings are no longer going to be discussed over the course of this season in favor of the Masami/Makorra dynamic
B. They are saving the development at or after a crucial part of the series. Romances in action-adventure series such like this can sprout after major battles due to the protagonist realizing how important that person is to them and how they’ve been their the whole time.
I think that Korra will notice Bolin at one point during an episode when they are fighting and that it will spark conversation between them, eventually leading to a discussion on their feelings. I would really like it if they do start a relationship by the end of this season with the premise of them taking it really slow. You don’t how much I would love to see that but the odds of that happening are…unfortunately slim.
And also unfortunately, I believe Bolin’s development will be another tell like Mako’s feelings were. The audience will have to assume that Bolin matured through all the stuff he has seen and experienced since episode 5. When it comes to Bolin now, he seems to be getting the least amount of attention because….because he isn’t relevant to Korra’s development anymore. I hate, HATE how up to this moment, he has been used primarily as a plot device. And it HURTS so much because this is a guy who has real feelings for a girl, not some type of infatuation like Mako and Korra have for each other. And for the creators to kick that to the curb sends a horrible message to younger audiences, that feelings are cheap and can be discarded, that after they are not relevant to you anymore, you don’t have to discuss them. It’s just something that hits so close to my own experiences with my family and friends that I don’t want this to be the mindset of other kids. It will not lead to happy sunset romances, I’ll tell you that much…

So far all that have made Bolin, is a comedic role, but even is not something funny, seems to have been “forgotten”.
But i guess we’re getting ahead, if it would be some relationship with Korra, I think it isn’t the right time (as happened to Katara and Aang, was something that developed slowly ).
Keep calm, I have the hope that it won’t end in that way (obviously). I know that many people identify with the character (and is one of the reasons I love Bolin).
Altruistic love is one of the few things that i saw in a animation series.
